Drainage and Church Improvements – Church
Life Scout Tim Robinson installed a 100 ft French drain to reduce erosion around the back of the Prince of Peace Church. He also Repainted the curb, planted grass seed, and made a small flower garden.
Baseball Field Refurbishing and Scoreboard Installation
Life Scout Jason Gabel refurbished a set of bleachers and team benches at the Rock Ridge baseball field. Additionally, Jason led the building and installation of a new signboard and new scoreboard.
Gardner Field Concessions Area Rehabilitation
Life Scout Thomas Rooney rehabilitated a railing that surrounded the concessions area.
White Meadow Lake Boat Launch Sign
Life Scout Ricky Ruglio installed a new sign at the White Meadow Lake Boat Launch area.
Roots and Wings Home Refurbishing
Life Scout Derek Rooney provided Roots and Wings, a home for young men who have aged out of the child welfare system with new window furnishings, new furniture and seal up an outdated fireplace.
Bat Houses for Denville Parks
Life Scout Timothy Rozansky led the building and installation of 20 bat houses throughout parks in Denville. The bat house design chosen for the project had 3 chambers and would hold a maximum occupancy of 80 bats.
Volleyball Court Beautification at Gardner Field
Life Scout Christopher Baresh built and installed two benches on the side of the Gardner Field volleyball court. He also weeded the court, replaced one of the net posts, and laid down 24 tons of new sand.
Butterfly Memorial Garden at Denville Community Church
Life Scout Nick Penkrat designed, had excavated, removed trees, prepped the ground, laid brick and did some landscaping to create a beautiful butterfly garden outdoor sanctuary. Memorial bricks in the landscape helped fund the project.
Preservation of Historic Cook’s Cemetery
Life Scout JC Gribbon led the clean up and rehabilitation of the cemetery located on the Rockaway River Golf Course. A new sign was installed detailing the history of the cemetery and lists the names of those buried there. Individual smaller signs were installed near the headstones.
Screech Owl Nesting boxes for Raptor Trust
Life Scout Jonathan Valerian led the building of nesting boxes out of white cedar provided by Raptor Trust. A total of 26 owl boxes were built. The nesting boxes were placed by Raptor Trust around parks in New Jersey.
Veterans Memorial Fields Beautification and upgrades
Life Scout Brendan Flood organized various updates to the field entrance and parking areas. New shrubbery, dog park enhancements, creation of a new picnic area, and building sitting benches.
DCC Church Garden Beautification and Rebuild
Life Scout Josh Rand’s project consisted of beautification of an overgrown garden space, along with the building of an additional garden. To accomplish this several smaller trees and shrubs had to be removed. As well as the rebuilding of two collapsed rock walls to hold the gardens.
Memorial (Independence) Monument movement at Gardner Field
Life Scout Jack Tucker moved a memorial honoring Denville’s xxxx who served on the USS Independence, a sub that served the US military to help end the war. A new monument obelisk was procured and installed. A rededication ceremony was held.
Planters and Beautification at Cook’s Pond Recreational Park
Life Scout Christopher Willis built a flower island near the gatehouse at Cook’s Pond and planted flowers. He also constructed and area for flowers at the Cook’s Pond entrance sign.
Car Stop Railing at Veteran’s Field
Life Scout Greg Jones installed a car-stop fence along the parking lot at Veteran’s “Zeek” Field.
Denville Firehouse Flagpole renovation w/new Monument
Life Scout Josh Gribbon’s project was to renovate the flagpole and surrounding area at the Main Street firehouse. The initial cleanup stage involved removing the old flag pole, fencing, some bushes, and paving stones. Following the cleanup of the area, a new flagpole and monument were installed, then a small retaining wall was built and paving stones were laid down to complete the area.
